Mlada Boleslav Castle

Mlada Boleslav Castle stands on the Old Town Square in Mlada Boleslav.

Already in the 10th century there was a hillfort on the site of today's castle, and in the 14th century a stone castle was built here. In the middle of the 16th century, the castle was rebuilt into a Renaissance residence, in the 18th century there was a barracks, and during the Second World War it was even an internment center for Jews. Today, the castle is owned by the state, has been reconstructed and is open to the public.

Today, visitors can visit the Museum of Mladoboleslavska and its collections at the castle. The exhibition "Memory of the City" is devoted to the history of Mladá Boleslav in the period from the 18th to the beginning of the 20th century, as part of the exhibition "Countryside in the Changes of Time" visitors can see, among other things, folk costumes, rural interior and get acquainted with small small-town and rural businesses.

Throughout the year, the museum organizes a number of short-term exhibitions and events.
